My neighbor's 1948 Willys Pick-up on the flooded Jeep trail in Northern Minnesota. |

I don't know much about this truck's history. Ardie Sheplee has been a family friend for a number of years. He had been a frequent visitor to my grandfather's log cabin in northern Minnesota. Eventually, he bought some land from Gramps and built his own cabin. Of course, he needed transportation of his own, and he bought this Willys at an auction. After having the engine overhauled, he hauled it up to the Ash River. After we started coming in by boat, this truck remained parked on the opposite bank of the Ash River. There were occasional thoughts of bringing it home, but it never panned out...until the winter of 2000. |

The "Smiling Willys" was modeled and animated by S. A. Smith (http://home.att.net/~ajranch/) using Lightwave 3D. "Everytime I hit a good bump the hood flys up and the door pops open. We'll just keep it off the highway." |
